Aiming at the best results in researching and popularizing Jewish history and culture, JHI cooperates with various institutions in Poland and abroad. The list of institutions which cooperate with the Jewish Historical Institute:
Established in 1951, the Association is a Jewish philanthropic organization in Poland dedicated to the civilization of Polish Jews and their contribution to world culture.
The Association initiated and co-finances POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and supports the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute.
The Association supports the Institute’s programs by allowing it to use the building and collections at 3/5 Tłomackie Street without charge, by financial and in-kind support, and by collaborating on programs and campaigns such as Oneg Shabbat, which is dedicated to the Ringelblum Archive. This cooperation is an exemplary public-private partnership.
Taube Philanthropies has for nearly 30 years provided leadership for and underwritten significant educational, cultural and civic nonprofit organizations of wide variety and consequence. These have focused their services primarily in the San Francisco and Greater Bay Area communities.
Hon. Tad Taube – American businessman and philanthropist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Taube was born in Kraków, Poland, in 1931 and immigrated to the United States in the summer of 1939, just weeks before the outbreak of World War II. He has dedicated his legacy to strengthening civic and cultural life in both the San Francisco Bay Area and his native Poland. In 2004, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him with Poland’s highest civilian medal — the Commander’s Cross, and in 2007 he was appointed Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Poland in the San Francisco Bay Area. Also in 2007, the Forward newspaper recognized Mr. Taube as one of its Forward Fifty most influential Jews in America. In 2009, Mr. Taube initiated a Sister City relationship between San Francisco and Kraków.
Taube Philanthropies is a long-time donor of the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute. The foundation’s support has made possible, among other things, the renovation of the Institute's main hall, which bears the name of the Taube Family, the renovation of the Ringelblum Archive repository, as well as genealogical, educational, and academic activities.
