Exhibitions

Updated exhibition rules and regulations, effective from March 30, 2022, can be downloaded here: 

Opening hours:

  • Monday, –Thursday 9 am – 6 pm (last admission at 5 pm);
  • Friday 9 am – 4 pm (last admission at 3 pm);
  • Saturday closed
  • Sunday 10 am – 6 pm (last admission at 5 pm).

Admission to the exhibitions:

  • normal ticket – PLN 15 (individual), PLN 12 (group)
  • reduced ticket – PLN 10 (individual), PLN 8 (group); group tickets – minimum 10 people
  • guided tour of the permanent exhibition in Polish (Tue-Fri) - PLN 30 / person
  • guided tour of the permanent exhibition in English (Tue-Fri) - PLN 40 / person
  • group tour of the permanent exhibition in Polish (Tue-Fri) - PLN 300
  • group tour of the permanent exhibition in English (Tue-Fri) - PLN 400

Entry limit for permanent exhibition – 35 people, temporary exhibition – 50 people.

The limit for admission to the synagogue exhibition is 15 people.

Buy a ticket

You can buy tickets online or at the Institute’s ticket office, open:

  • Tuesday–Thursday 9 am – 5 pm,
  • Friday 9 am – 3 pm,
  • Sunday 10 am – 5 pm.

Payment by card and cash.

On Mondays, exhibitions are free of charge.

The cloakroom is mandatory.

Walks

Price list:

  • guided tour with an educator in Polish — 246 zł
  • guided tour with an educator in English — 369 zł

The walks require 10 participants minimum.

Walks are organized from April 1 to October 31.

The workshops require 10 participants minimum.

Please book your visits at least 14 days in advance. In case of paid visits, the payment should be submitted at lest 7 days in advance.

 

Bookstore

To March 4, the Bookstore will be open to 4 p.m.

Archives

Readers can take research visits during reading room working hours. Documents can be ordered between 9 AM and 3 PM. In the case of longer  research visits, please contact us in advance at archiwum@jhi.pl or areszka@jhi.pl to reserve a place.

Readers are required to wear masks and gloves.

Library

The reading room provides documents from the Archives of the Jewish Historical Institute as well as books and periodicals from the Library’s resources. Orders can be placed in person or by e-mail. Documents and books are available only on site.

The reading room offers bibliographic help, shares information about Jewish institutions, and provides information for historical research. You may use your own copying devices in the reading room.

Heritage Documentation Department

We invite everyone interested in information on Jewish heritage in Poland (Warsaw and other cities, cemeteries, photographs etc.) to visit the Heritage Documentation Department.

Monday – Friday: 10 am – 4 pm

Meetings at the seat of the Jewish Historical Institute will only be possible by prior arrangement.

Research visits in the JHI reading room only by prior arrangement possible from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
