2014 marks the 70th anniversary of the tragic death of Emanuel Ringelblum, the founder of the Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto. On this occasion, on 15th and 16th May, at the Jewish Historical Institute will take place an international academic conference titled Emanuel Ringelblum. Life and legacy. It will be participated byour experts as well as representatives of various research centers, institutions and organizations. The guest of honour at our conference will be Prof. Jan Grabowski of the University of Ottawa.

It is worth mentioning that the last time that such an event took place was a half-century ago. In March, 1948 at the Jewish Historical Institute took place a public meeting commemorating the 4th death anniversary of Emanuel Ringelblum. It was an exceptional event as it was participated by the last living co-workers of Emanuel Ringelblum, members of the conspiratorial Oneg Shabbat group: Rachela Auerbach and Hersz Wasser.

„Kultura Liberalna” is the media patron of the conference.
