Marian Turski has passed away. A Holocaust survivor, historian and journalist, a member of the Programme Board of the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute and a long-time editor of the "Polityka" magazine. A person of great merit for commemorating the history of Polish Jews and building Polish-Jewish relations.

An extraordinary man has passed away. A moral authority for many of us who, with unparalleled ease, was able to talk about the past and point out the dangers of the present. His words from the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz will remain with us forever. Marian Turski stood on the side of the weaker and excluded, and warned against the radicalism that threatened us, calling for opposition to evil. He learned such a solution for all those responsible for it.

Our hearts are filled with great pain.
