Emanuel Ringelblum’s Jewish Historical Institute in the collaboration with Jewish and Korczak’s organizations working to preserve the memory of Jews and to protect children’s rights invite to the March of Remembrance, which will take place on 22nd July, 2012 in Warsaw.
On 22nd July it will be 70 years since the beginning of the first liquidation action of the Warsaw Ghetto which led to the murder of more than 250 thousends of Jewish residents of Warsaw in the extermination camp in Treblinka.
The year 2012, with the initiative of the Ombudsman for Children, was declared the Year of Janusz Korczak, who died in Treblinka in 1942 together with his colleagues and pupils. On the anniversary of these events we are organizing the march dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust victims, and most of all — children. We believe that it will be a proper way to honor both anniversaries.
We invite Warsaw residents and all those, to whom the memory of the past and Korczak’s ideas and values are important. By recalling the last journey of Janusz Korczak, we wish it to be a symbolical “return” journey from death to life.
